It was cute seeing the children make their own fun. Colorado City is VERY isolated.
Another little reminder of where you are! Another fence to remind you of where you are not supposed to be.
Everyone has large capacity vehicles. Wonder how many it takes to carpool the average family?
There are fields woven through the towns, the area feels quite rural.
The UEP on the stone wall stands for United Effort Plan. That's the collective co-op that everyone in town belonged to. No one owned their own home, they were the property of the UEP. The gov. took them to court and changed that.
Lots of work, especially for women and children.
I was surprised by how much work was still done by hand, and by women and children.
That's one house built for many.
Some of the houses were really nice, with landscaping and ornamentation. Many more stood unfinished looking.
There were many beautiful gardens scattered about the small towns.
More walls, more work.
This is looking west nearing the outskirts of town. This was more of an idustrial section.
Industrial areas were interspersed with residential and agricultural plots.
Nice wide road, pretty view, more fences.
Fuzzy photo of a sister wife in a pretty, lavendar dress. The dresses seem so incongruent for the type of work we saw them engaged in. They usually wore sneakers, go figure.
All the kids were really sweet looking. SSBUSA and I loved how these girls just seemed like a slice of Americana.
We saw several of the women in gorgeously colored purple dresses. They were so pretty, I'm surprised they weren't deemed sinful.
The dress on the littlest girl almost seems too much to handle.
The boys are supposed to keep their arms and legs covered no matter how hot it is.
I wonder what proportion of citizens want to be in this life, and are they free to go, now, post Warren Jeffs imprisonment?
Wonder what the future is for this house, why doesn't someone take it over and put it to use?
That's such a placid, normal looking setting. Hope they're content with their live's.
