Grumman F-7 Tigercat
The car park at the Yanks AM in Chino, CA had this anonymous Catalina. As far as I could tell after a bit of a Google, it's PBY-5A N9505C, which flew in the Navy as Bu.Aer 34027?
1987 No. 104 Flight Cessna Golden Eagle NZ7941 over Blenheim, 1 Oct 1987.
1987 104 Flight Cessna Golden Eagle NZ7941 over the coast near Blenheim, 1 Oct 1987.
51-7195 was ordered as a SA-16B, 'S' for search, & 'A' for amphibious. It was re-designated HU-16B, so H for rescue, U for utility. I think it remains airworthy with the Yanks AM at Chino, CA.
Looks like a T-33, but where's the other seat? Lockheed F-80A Shooting Star 44-85488 is a true First Generation Jet, in fact it was ordered as a P-80A when P for 'Pursuit' was still standard for fighters.
A bit too late for WW II, the Grumman Tigercat went to war in Korea. Bu.Aer 80382 is a F7F-3N and has been stored outside for many years at the 'Planes of Fame' AM in Chino, CA. The -3N subvariant is the night fighter version of the thing.
In 2008, the Yanks AM at Chino, CA had just had a delivery from AMARC. Bu.Aer 155644/ NF-521 & 160995/ NK-507 are the two A-6E Intruders. Behind them are Thunderchiefs 60-0471 "TH" & 59-1759, both D-models.
Stored on the ramp at Chino, CA is this ex Armee de L'Air Fouga Magister, N511FM. It flew in France as #511/ 312-TX. I returned to Chino in 2025- but it's gone.
This Curtiss C-46D Commando was 'resting' in a storage compound at Chino, CA in 2008. When we returned in 2025, 44-77559 was still there. It's with the 'Planes of Fame' AM here.

The 'Planes of Fame' AM at Chino, CA keep this ex US Army Grumman OV-1A Mohawk. 59-2604 is quite an early bird- just the 11th built. N4235Z has a faulty presentation of its old army serial. 92604 would be more correct.
Ordered as a Douglas A4D-2N, later A-4C, this Skyhawk is Bu.Aer 148316. It was stored as 3A411 back in 1975 and I first saw it in ARM/ DMI in 2001. It's at the Planes of Fame AM, Chino, CA these days, still with its Spraylat intact!
